YOUR HOURS

What 55 minutes a day buys back

The average habit, translated into a life.

Published estimates put the average dating-app user around 55 minutes a day. Nobody feels that number — it leaves in 4-minute pinches, between other things. Annualized, it’s about 334 hours. THAT number you can feel. Here’s the exchange rate.

334 hours 14 entire days of your life
334 hours two real vacations
334 hours a language, conversational
334 hours a couch-to-marathon arc
334 hours every sunset, all summer, with time left

The honest caveat

You won’t reclaim all of it, and this app won’t pretend you will. Some scroll time is just rest, and rest counts. But the math isn’t all-or-nothing: half of the habit back is a full week of waking life per year, and unlike the feed, hours spent on a goal compound — a year of guitar practice is still yours in ten years.

The apps turned your evenings into their inventory. The goal bar just runs the trade in reverse.

This is the warm half of the ledger. Contempt for the machine gets you out the door; the guitar, the half-marathon, the friends you actually see — that’s what keeps you out. Pick the goal, point the hours at it, and let the day counter do the bragging.
